Chintz plates on sterling display stand

MARY ROSE c1870

This more formal dinner service with a dark blue border and 22k gold rim is softened with the swags and rose posies. We have called it 'Mary Rose' after Queen Mary's rose garden in Regents Park, London. It is inspired by Minton and dates from around 1870. Made from fine bone china the decoration of coloured ceramic enamels is permanently fired into the glaze and has a 22k gold rim.

The dinner service comprises of a soup tureen, covered vegetable dish and open vegetable dish with a choice of either 6 or 4 dinner, side and soup plates.

Complete dinner service for 6 £500

CHINTZ PLATES c1930-

These cheerful chintz patterns first became widely popular during the 1930's and the originals are highly collectable today. Inspired by the colourful printed textiles from India they are characterised by all over repeat patterns often featuring floral motifs.

Perhaps it is no coincidence that their rise in popularity coincided with the dark pre- and post-war years so we have decided to introduce them to bring some cheer into our own difficult times, evoking lazy summer picnics, afternoon teas and blue skys.

There are 8 different patterns in the range and we have made 2 of them into square bread and butter plates limited to an edition of 50 each. Made from fine bone china the decoration of coloured ceramic enamels is permanently fired on with a 22k gold rim.
